The property is tucked away from the road up a private track.  A lovely and very reasonably priced restaurant & bar with a crazy golf garden is situated just across the entrance to the track to our property. 

The nearest neighbours are a kilometre away. We are secluded but not isolated, being less than 10 minutes from the local village, Chalabre which has all the basic amenities including weekly market, supermarket, hotel, restaurants, bars, newsagent, bank, doctors, physiotherapists, osteopath, dentist, pharmacy, hairdresser and florist.

Rivel is 5 minutes drive away, rural and quiet with beautiful landscapes and a post office which also serves as a bread depot. 

 Close proximity to two swimming lakes, Lac de Montbel and Lac du Puivert, each with their own tranquility and charm.

The house is situated roughly in the middle of Mirepoix, Quillan, Limoux, Espéraza and Lavelanet, each town being approximately 20-35 minutes away. 

This region is known for exploring the Cathar strongholds, Knights of Templars, Mary Magdalene with its high-energy portals and sacred sites and Rennes-le-Château with its intriguing history of buried treasure and spectacular 360°viewpoint.  Not to mention the endless choices of outdoor pursuits from gentle walks to marked hiking paths, biking, horse riding, hang gliding, fishing, sailing, rafting, canoeing and winter sports.
